Exquisite Antique European Seed Bead Textile - reshaped, hand stitched and transformed into the ultimate Goddess Cuff! Note the intricate design and amazing rich coloration of the bead work - lovely high quality piece and incredibly powerful to wear! It closes with 4 Antique Black Fabric Covered Buttons and elasticized loops. Fully lined with unusual Antique Ledger Journal Soft Woven Fabric that has been washed and ironed - any marks are simply vestiges of it's past history. Additionally bordered with Antique French Real Silver Metal bias trim. It is shaped to accommodate the natural form of the wrist up to the forearm.
The term "gauntlet" originally denoted the armored glove worn by knights and soldiers, with a flared cuff designed to protect the wrists and lower arms in combat. Over time, the gauntlet cuff became a fashionable element in clothing, specifically turn-back cuffs in tailcoats and frock coats during the 16th and 17th centuries.
